Receipts on WhatsApp

The slip in the bakkie door pocket becomes an expense in the books before you get home.

  1. 1

    Snap the slip

You or your staff send a photo of the receipt to your Kwita number. Voice notes work too.

  2. 2

    Kwita reads it

Supplier, date, VAT and total are pulled out and matched to a bank transaction if one exists.

  3. 3

    Approve with one tap

The expense posts to the ledger and lands in the right VAT201 box. No shoebox.

Less than Xero. More than Sage.

Questions

Do I need a WhatsApp Business account?

No. Kwita gives you a business number during setup, or connects the number you already use. Customers see your business name and reply as normal.

Is Kwita proper double entry accounting?

Yes. Every invoice, payment, expense, pay run and stock movement posts a balanced journal. Your accountant gets a trial balance, income statement, balance sheet and the VAT201 boxes straight from the ledger.

Which banks can I import statements from?

FNB, Standard Bank, Absa, Nedbank, Capitec and Investec. Export a CSV or OFX from your online banking and drop it in. Kwita matches transactions to invoices, bills and receipts.

What happens after the free trial?

You get 14 days on Grow with no card. After that pick a plan from R199 a month including VAT. If you do nothing your data stays safe and read only for 90 days.

Where is my data stored and who owns it?

Your data is yours. It is stored on Google Cloud (Firebase) with encryption at rest and in transit. Export everything as CSV at any time. We keep tax records for 5 years as SARS requires, then delete them on request.
